How We Design at Dope
A collection has to make sense at more than one distance. There is the paddle you notice across a court, the pattern you find when you open a case, and the embroidery you see while getting dressed. At Dope, those moments belong to the same idea.
High Roller Collection
Begin with something that stays.
For High Roller, the starting points were personal: a remembered chrome-gold racquet, a friendship and time in Las Vegas. Stitch gave those memories a shape and a palette. The finished pieces carry traces of all three.
A design can hold a place or a part of your life. That is what makes an object feel personal long after its first impression.
Let each material have a voice.
Gold behaves differently around the paddle’s perimeter, in a stitched mark and across a printed lining. One reflects light. Another becomes a line of thread. Another turns into a repeating pattern.
The color connects them, while the surface gives each piece its own character. The collection is built out of those relationships.
Give the eye somewhere to go.
High Roller’s outline makes the first statement. The script, card suits and end cap bring the scale down. Open the case or look near the shirt’s hem and there is something else to find.
Those quieter details reward the time you spend with an object. They make room for a second look, and a third.
Stay with the difficult part.
A clear idea still has to become something real. For Stitch, finding the right metallic finish meant working through materials, appearance and manufacturing challenges. He held the launch until he was happy with the result.
